Following the ongoing
Police-public partnership policy of the Lagos State Commissioner of Police,
Edgal Imohimi, about 500 youths in Ijede Local Council Development Area of
Ikorodu, Lagos State, has voluntarily renounced their membership of various
cult group in the area.
The cult group comprises
of Aiye, Eiye, Buccaneer and KK among others and their ages between 17 and 35
also submitted weapons that have been from their custody to the State Police
Command.
Among the weapons submitted
at the Ijede LCDA hall were pump action rifles, AK-47 rifles, locally made guns
and single-barreled guns along with cartridges of various types of guns as well
as axes and machetes.
Receiving the arms, the
State Commissioner of Police, Edgal Imohimi said the act was a boost to his policy
of Police-public partnership, while applauding the efforts of the LCDA
chairman, Mr. Salisu Jimoh, for pioneering the move, he pointed out that the renouncement
is the first step in the process of reintegrating them into the society.
Speaking on why he renounced
the confraternity, former head of the KK cult group said it was for the safety
of his life and that of the members of his community adding that he want peace
to reign in the community hence the reason for his opting out.
